The Best Time of Year to Go ATV Riding Near Pattaya
The Short Answer: Any Time is a Good Time
We run tours every single day of the year, and riders tell us the experience is fantastic regardless of season. But there are real differences between riding in November and riding in August — different terrain, different challenges, different highlights. This guide breaks it all down so you can make the most of whenever your trip falls.
Cool Season: November to February
This is peak tourist season in Pattaya and widely considered the best time to visit Thailand. Temperatures sit between 22–30°C, humidity is manageable, and rain is infrequent. It's the most comfortable riding weather of the year.
What the trails are like:
- Dry, firm track surfaces — fast and grippy
- River crossings are shallower and easier to navigate
- Hilltop trails are fully accessible — you can reach the highest viewpoints
- Clear skies mean spectacular panoramic views across the countryside
- Dust on the dry sections (your goggles will thank you)
Cool season is ideal for first-timers and riders who want the most scenic experience. The lower humidity makes the riding more comfortable, and you'll come home clean-ish.
Hot Season: March to June
Temperatures climb toward 35–38°C and humidity rises noticeably. It's hot, sweaty riding — but the trails are still dry and fast, and there are significantly fewer tourists on the road. If you want smaller tour groups and don't mind the heat, this is an underrated time to visit.
April brings Songkran — the Thai New Year water festival — which is one of the most remarkable cultural events in Southeast Asia. Timing your trip around Songkran and adding an ATV tour makes for an unforgettable few days in Thailand.
Practical tips for hot season riding:
- Apply sunscreen generously before your pickup
- Hydrate well the morning of the tour
- Bring a second change of clothes — you will sweat through the first
Rainy Season: July to October
This is the season most tourists overlook — and it's the most exciting time to ride.
Rainfall in Eastern Thailand mostly arrives in afternoon downpours rather than all-day grey drizzle. Mornings are often clear and bright, and the landscape turns a vivid, almost unreal shade of green. The trails transform completely.
What the trails are like:
- Deep, fast river crossings — some reaching chest height on the ATVs
- Thick mud sections and rutted jungle paths
- A spectacular seasonal waterfall on the upper trail loops
- Heavy ruts on some sections can limit access to the highest hilltop routes
- The lush greenery makes for stunning photos and GoPro footage
"We went in September and it had been raining all week. The river crossing was waist-deep on the ATV and we came home absolutely caked in mud. It was the best day of our holiday." — James, Australia
Rainy season tours are ideal for adventurous riders who want the most dramatic, immersive experience. We never cancel tours for rain — in our experience, a bit of tropical rain makes everything better.
